Recover Data From An Acer Laptop

ACER ASPIRE 3630

I have an Acer Aspire 3630 PC laptop which was bought second hand. I purchased a new hard drive, and installed this in the back of the computer, removing the old one. I was rather worried that the drive was thinly packaged, and so I put it onto a computer at my work, and then ran a CHKDSK program to try and see whether there was any damage to the system. What happened then was that the test came back fine, I put it into the laptop, and there was an immediate SMART error from the very start. I tested the drive on another laptop, but there was no SMART warning there. I then discovered by running a system check, that the hard drive was damaged, possibly beyond repair

ACER ASPIRE 5400G

I have an Acer Aspire 5400G laptop which appears to have lost a load of data from a hard drive. There was a serious crash, where the screen went grey, and then froze over completely. I waited for a while, and gradually the screen started working again. As I clicked to shut down one of the browsers, the laptop turned itself off completely, and rebooted. There was a message at the top of the screen saying ‘Can’t load operating system’. I rebooted the system, and got the same message. I removed an external hard drive which has been connected, and rebooted, but again the same message. I put in a recovery disk, and got the information that one of the boot sectors was not found, and could not be repaired.
